FieldForge vs Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro alternativeBuilt for crews of 2 to 20, not one

Housecall Pro's Basic plan covers one user. Every tech you add is about $35 a month on top, and the features you actually want are paid add-ons (as of July 2026). FieldForge Starter covers 2 users for $49, extra seats are $15, and online payments, invoicing, the customer portal and the tech app are in the price. Texting, reminders and review requests start on Pro at $149 with 7 users. No add-ons on any plan.

Why you're reading this

The bill that grows every time you hire

Hey. If you're here, you probably just priced out Housecall Pro for your crew and did the math twice. The plan looked fine. Then you added your techs.

That's the part nobody puts on the big pricing banner. One user is in the plan. Everybody else on your crew is a line item. Then you find out QuickBooks sync and GPS aren't in Basic, and the add-ons run $40 to $149 a month each. You didn't go shopping for a $59 tool. You went shopping for a tool your whole crew can use, and that's a different number.

I'm Derek. I build software for trades businesses, and FieldForge is the field service app I'd want if I were running a 4-truck plumbing outfit. One flat plan price, the seats you need, and the features already in it. Nothing bolted on later. Nothing your office manager has to argue about at renewal.

FieldForge is not a Housecall Pro clone. It does less in a few places (no GPS, no inventory), and I'll say so below. It does the core loop, schedule the job, dispatch the tech, get paid, without the ladder.

Housecall Pro figures come from their published pricing as we recorded it in July 2026 and are shown so you can compare structure, not to the dollar. Still deciding

Housecall Pro vs Jobber, and the third option

A lot of people land here mid-decision between Housecall Pro and Jobber. Here's the honest shape of it, from what we recorded in July 2026. They are more alike than different.

Jobber sells solo plans (Core $29, Connect $99, Grow $149) and team plans by seat count ($149 for 5 users, $299 for 10, $529 for 15), with extra users at $29 a month. Its Marketing Suite is a $79 a month add-on and the AI Receptionist is a $99 a month add-on on most plans.

Housecall Pro starts with one user on Basic, charges about $35 a month for each extra user, and sells add-ons from $40 to $149 a month. QuickBooks sync and GPS aren't in the Basic tier.

Pick by the ladder, not the sticker. Both start low and grow with every seat and every add-on. For a 2 to 20 person crew that just wants scheduling, invoicing and payments in one place, FieldForge is the flat-price option: Starter $49 with 2 users, Pro $149 with 7 users, and texting, reminders and review requests in the Pro price instead of an add-on.

If you need what we don't do (live GPS, or Jobber's AI receptionist), pick one of them and budget for the add-ons up front so the renewal doesn't surprise you.

Straight answer

Who should pick which

Stay with Housecall Pro if

  • You're a solo operator and one user is genuinely all you need.
  • You want live GPS on every truck, on a plan that includes it.
  • You'd rather buy add-ons one at a time ($40 to $149 a month each) than move up a plan.

Switch to FieldForge if

  • You've got 2 to 20 people and every one of them needs to see the schedule.
  • You're tired of seat fees and add-ons and want one number on the bill.
  • Your techs won't download an app. Ours opens from a link on any phone.
  • You want to be running real jobs today. Most owners have their first job scheduled inside 20 minutes.
Questions

Before you switch

How much does Housecall Pro charge for an extra user?
As of July 2026, Housecall Pro's Basic plan includes one user and additional users run about $35 a month each, per their published pricing. Check their site for today's rate before you sign. FieldForge Starter includes 2 users for $49 a month and adds users at $15 each.
Housecall Pro vs Jobber: which is cheaper for a 4-person crew?
As of July 2026 both charge per extra user (Housecall Pro about $35, Jobber $29) and both sell key features as paid add-ons, so the cheaper one depends on the seats and add-ons you end up needing. FieldForge for 4 people is Starter at $79 a month ($49 plus two extra users at $15), with online payments, invoicing, the customer portal and the tech app in the price. If you want texting, reminders and review requests, that is Pro at $149 with 7 users, still with no add-ons.
Does FieldForge have GPS tracking?
No. FieldForge shows job status (assigned, on the way, in progress, done) rather than a live location for each truck. If you need a dot on a map for every van, Housecall Pro on a plan that includes GPS is the better fit, and I'd rather tell you that here than have you find out on day 3 of the trial.
Will my techs actually use it?
That's the whole design. There's nothing to download. They open a link on their phone, see today's jobs, tap to update status and add a photo. No app store, no login they'll forget by Thursday.
Can I move over mid-season?
Yes. Add your clients, create this week's jobs, assign your techs. Most owners have their first job scheduled within 20 minutes. You can run the trial alongside your current tool and switch when you're ready.
Is there a contract or a card required for the trial?
No card, no contract. The trial is 7 days. After that you pick a plan and add a card, or you don't and your account pauses. Your jobs, clients and invoices stay put in case you come back.

Put your whole crew on one plan.

Start free, invite your techs, run this week's jobs through it. Seven days, no card, and the price on the bill is the price on this page.
